Ahri's Runion with Leona
Mount Tarpon. In all of runeterra there was no place considered to be as sacred or as dangerous. Many of those who ascended to become aspects, gods, or demigods had been to the peak of this mountain. Leona herself was the chosen of the sun, one of the most holy warriors of the Solari sect. This meant in many respects that all the Solari held her in a certain deference.
Perhaps that was why one morning while she was buckling on her armor that a young Solari knight came up to her with a dazed look on his face. Then again, it seemed like something a bit stronger than just deference had him in a daze. His speech was a bit slurred when he spoke and he looked a bit wobbly on his feet. Was he drunk?
"Lady Leona... ma'am? There's a really beautiful lady here to see you. She's shy so she she asked me to come fetch you, and she's all bundled up in her cloak so I couldn't see her face... but she's not a Lunari!" His dazed look seemed to vanish slightly at the mention of those heretics who defile their land. It was a wel known fact that Leona had a sisterly relationship with Diana, the aspect of the moon who lead the Lunari, but their faction had warred with one another for generations. It was not so easy to forgive and forget when they still stuck from the shadows to kill innocent Solari worshippers.
He cleared his throat awkwardly as he seemed to come out of his daze now, but still held the cloaked stranger in high esteem. "She told me to tell you your fox has returned home, does that mean anything to you?"

She was ready to hear sad tale of sorts, or something. That usually tended to be the case, like someone wishing for shelter or having a request to slay some beast. It was the same story each day. Not that Leona minded. She still good in the world and was able to make friends. It kind of did beat the old days, where they all constantly fought each other with the summoners.
But the absolute moment "your fox" had been mentioned, Leona stopped, eyes widening. It had been god knows how long since they separated, both trying to seek out ways to help her fox friend. But she was here!? Leona immediately turned to the knight, stepping closer to them. Yet despite likely being intimidating with the move, she still beamed as bright as the sun.
"My dear of friend, more than any other. Take me to her immediately!"

"Allow me to introduce Lady Leona of the Solari, champion of the sun!" The knight intoned ceremoniously, which caused the woman seated at the table to simply chuckle playfully.
"That's very kind of you sir knight, but as you can see? Leona and I are old friends." She still kept her hood on but the smile on her lips was so warm Leona could hear the man's knees tremble in his armor. "Would you mind terribly leaving the two of us alone? She and I have a lot of catching up to do."
The knight salutes briskly and asked Leona, "P-Permission to leave ma'am?" It did technically go against Solari protocol, he was supposed to finish questioning the cloaked woman with Leona, but if anyone could overrule that protocol it was her. He still felt the minor effects of the charm magic, and was quite reluctant to do disobey the stranger in spite of his training.

It was hard to contain her excitement, but she made it a point to look professional to the other knights with a more confident smile, rather than seeming like the inner-giddy childlike joy brimming within. Thankfully this was easier to do.
But it was tested and nearly wavered as she heard the voice of the fox, her fox. The smile turned more warm, and she raised her hand to the knight that accompanied her.
"Granted. I shall handle things from here."
But once the knight had left, Leona's tough exterior broke, now simply beaming at her cloaked friend. No more eyes on them, she could finally shed the mask. Quickly, she embraced Ahri, even lifting her from the seat in a tight and loving hug. It was too long, and any doubts were gone. After all the fighting, all the hunting of info, all the problems she had to fix, the woman she loved more than anything was here, in her arms at last.
"It has been far too long! I'm glad to have you back, Ahri!"

Ahri let out a soft girly squeal as she was so suddenly embraced, too caught off guard to even pull her hood off. It reminded her of very out times, on those rare occasions they faced off against one another in summoner's right and she was caught by Leona's Zenith blade.
She smiled as she finally managed to at least shake off her hood a little so she could show her face to her lady knight. "It's good to be back, I've missed you Leona."
The last time Ahri had been to mount Targon was shortly after the fall of the halls of Justice, and the summoner's war. Leona had been a light in her darkness during that time of uncertainty, where everyone feared a second rune war. Ahri herself was lost, confused, and quite vulnerable without the energies the halls of justice supplied for her. She did not want to lose her humanity... if only she'd known what she knew now.
She had promised Leona she would return to her when she finally discovered a way to keep those she loved safe from her all consuming hunger. She had been so deathly afraid, afraid of draining the life force utterly from her beloved, and worse yet? That Leona might allow her to do so and forgive her with hey dying breath. That was the future that she feared most back then, but now? Now she finally understood who and what she truly was.
"Where would you like us to begin Leona? Would you like to hear all the truths I have uncovered in my travels? The lies I have peeled away, and the shining light of hope I have found? Or perhaps..." She shot Leona a playful grin with a hint of her fangs showing. "You'd like to get out of that armor for our more intimate reunion~?"
Perhaps if she'd known that Leona had just finished putting it on not so long ago she wouldn't have teased her with this suggestion. It had been so long since she'd been able to sink her teeth into Leona's body and feel that feral release, that the temptation was certainly there in Ahri's mind. The way she'd been scooped up in those strong arms like no time had passed, just made her feel so warm all over she wanted to bury her face in her lover.

A light blush appeared on the knight's face, but her smile was very much apparent. Felt weird missing this kind of flirting from Ahri. Not that others hadn't tried to flirt with her, just wasn't the same in the slightest. Leona didn't like to have flings anyway. Her heart and soul were saved for only particular person in this world.
"The former, certainly," she said, happily putting the fox back onto her two feet, smile still apparently. "I imagine there's much we need to catch up on as well. The latter...maybe in another location."
She loved Ahri, but celebrating their reunion here? She would simply die of embarrassment alone.

"Let's start by tackling the biggest and most important one. I promised you I wouldn't return until I found a way to ensure you'd never be in danger from me? Well... Let's see how you like this, hmm?" Ahri had conjured the orb she used to focus her powers, idly playing with it in the air as she spoke until it shot at Leona with lightning speed, firing right through the knight's chest.

"Surprised?" Perhaps she wasn't going to tease Leona in any intimate ways, but that wasn't going to stop her from doing so in other ways.

Then she saw the orb fly out, faster than she expected. Her guard down so much, she didn't even have much time to react beyond stumbling back, eyes closed, expecting to be blown back. Not sure what got into Ahri, or what she was trying, but--
Wait...it didn't hurt. No, if anything, she was feeling energized. She slowly opened her eyes, blinking as she stared at her hands. Whatever soreness she endured from yesterday's trials faded in an instant.
"What? How did you..."
In short: yes, yes she was.

"My powers as you are aware allow me to consume the spirit of others, to drain them of their very life energy and the memories that define who they are. What you may not know is that in Ionia there are a host of flowers that do something... similar. When I had first lost control of my powers as a much younger woman, I had killed the man I loved. That much I believe I may have told you before, but because the pain of that loss was so great, I had purposely sought out these flowers in my foolish youth to help me forget him. That is where my troubles all began." Ahri had paused for a bit of dramatic effect, because what she had to reveal next was... unsettling.
"I am not part human, nor was I ever a fox who became one. The trouble with losing memories and then consuming others, is that you can lose your true identity in the process. The institute of war took advantage of this fact, and my longing to control my powers so I no longer hurt others indiscriminately. Through records I found of the fallen institution, I came to realize they knew what I truly was, but thought it best to keep me limited for their own designs." There it was... those who had run the very organization that was supposed to save runeterra from another rune war, were just as corrupt as the mages who started that dreaded war.
"I am a Vestsya Leona, one of the ancient races of Ionia that came about when humans first learned to merge with the spirits of the land. The reason I am so different from other Vastaya is because I am a Vasani, and as far as I know... the last of my kind. My people were all nine tailed foxes who wielded the same powers I do. What I did not understand, was that I only knew a small fraction of what my powers could do. I was so afraid of them, that I never tested their limits, and thus gain a complete understanding of how to control them. My journey of self-discovery lead me from Demacia, to Ionia, to bilgewater, to the cursed isles, to Noxus, and finally back to Ionia again before returning to you. I sought out ancient temples and universities that the Vasani used. In those hidden placed where fragments of my people's history still lingered, I learned that what I feared was no more than being more omnivorous than any other race in Runeterra. My people could manipulate life and death with our powers, just as I can drain someone of life, I can also gift it to others as I did to you just now. In some ways I'm grateful to the institute of war for manipulating me, because were it not for them? I may have never realized I needed to seek the answers of what I am, which allowed me to learn and access the totality of my powers." It was an immense bombshell she had just dropped on Leona, so she was going to give her a little time to process and digest that information before continuing further. Leona also may have questions to help her better understand what she was saying.

Leona remained silent as she absorbed everything. Even if she didn't look too shocked, her mind kept racing from both this and the years they parted, extending all the way back to their days with the institute of war. Soon though, she did put a hand against her head, sighing.
"This is...certainly a lot. I admit, I already feared being complicit in atrocities within these walls alone thanks to our own war. I even learned to fear myself at times. Quite honestly, I'm not sure what to say, what to do..."
She did try to smile though, staring at her lover.
"Regardless, you learning to harness your abilities is most wonderful news. For now, I suppose all I can do is look on the bright side of life."

"Leona, you were in no way complicit in their crimes just because you hoped to save our world. I along with many others supported the goals of the institute of war, even if we didn't question their methods nearly as closely as we should have. They used many monsters like Thresh or Nocturne, so it's perhaps not entirely surprising that their methods involving me were so underhanded." Ahri had a pained smile on her face as she let her go.
"If you are afraid, then let me stay by your side. In my time away, I have learned to be one of the most fearsome powers in Runeterra. If ever you feel yourself struggling to hold back, or you fear what your own powers might do to those you care for, allow me to keep you in check. I know more about that sort of thing than nearly anyone."
no subject
"I would want you by my side regardless. There is much we can do together, both for the world, and for each other. And there's no one would I rather have watching my back than you."
no subject
"I know as an aspect you have many duties to the Solari. That is why I will stay with you on mount Targon and help you in whatever way I can. Perhaps if I can help you establish a lasting peace here for your people, you can come with me to the forests of Ionia." It was a rather far fetched wish of hers if there ever was one. Leona would almost certainly always feel a duty to guide the Solari, but perhaps she could take a vacation if nothing else.
no subject
"I welcome it with open arms, my love," she spoke softly. "Might take us quite some time for such a dream, but who knows? There may come a time when I can pass on these duties to another, and a peaceful life for just us can come to fruition."
For as much malice plagued the world, there were also miracles worth fighting for. Ahri and Leona were testaments to it already, and that alone gave the solar knight all the hope in the world.
